The implementation plan for joint mining of the adjacent slopes of Heidaigou Open-pit Coal Mine and Haerwusu Open-pit Coal Mine of Zhunneng Group was officially approved by the Mine Safety Supervision Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This marked a historic breakthrough in addressing the long-standing problem of resource recovery locked up under slopes in the coal industry. This will allow Zhunneng Group to release 74.5155 million tonnes of coal resources within legal framework. The project also became the first approved joint mining project of adjacent sides for open-pit coal mines in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
In August 2024, two open-pit coal mines of Zhuneng Group obtained new mining licenses with adjusted mining boundaries. To avoid large amounts of coal resources being locked up due to separate mining along the new mining right boundaries, the Company actively responded to the national call for the economical and intensive use of mineral resources. It entrusted a design institute to compile the Implementation Plan for Joint Mining of Adjacent Slopes of Heidaigou and Haerwusu Open-pit Coal Mines, and planned to carry out joint mining on the adjacent sides of the two mines. Finally, the plan successfully passed expert review and was approved synchronously upon the implementation of the newly revised Coal Mine Safety Regulations.
The approval of this joint mining not only effectively reduced the stripping ratio and enhanced the overall safety of slopes, but also greatly increased resource recovery rate, extended mine service life and strengthened regional energy supply capacity. Furthermore, it provided a replicable and scalable example for addressing similar issues in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and even for the country, playing a significant demonstration and leading role in promoting the intensive and green development of resources in the coal industry. Next, Zhunneng Group will strictly follow the approved plan and relevant regulations, meticulously organize construction, strengthen safety management, ensure the safe, efficient and orderly progress of the joint mining project, and strive to build a world-class safe and efficient open-pit coal mine.
