On September 5, youth volunteers from Shouguang Company launched a “Helping the Rural People with Autumn Harvest” volunteering service, assisting households with labor shortage in Zhaike Village, Yangkou Town, Shouguang City, to overcome difficulties in corn harvest.
The volunteers arrived early in the morning at the designated fields for paired-up assistance at Zhaike Village, Yangkou Town. After an assignment, they donned straw hats, picked up tools, and quickly dedicated themselves to work. Some were responsible for picking corn, others for collecting and carrying it, ensuring everything was well-organized. By midday, they harvested 1.6 acres of corn and delivered it to the resident’s house for a thorough airing. One resident said with excitement, “When my son and daughter-in-law were at home, I didn’t have to worry about harvesting. But this year, they are working away from home, and I am anxious about this. Thanks to the volunteers, they gave me a big favor”. Volunteer Shi Shiyao added, “We’re delighted that we can help with the immediate harvest”. This initiative not only addressed the rural people’s concerns but also gave the youth volunteers firsthand experience of agricultural production, deepening their understanding of rural life and showcasing their sense of social responsibility and dedication in the new era.
