Recently, Ha’erwusu open-pit coal mine operated by Zhungeer Energy donated winter school uniforms, footballs and school supplies to a boarding school in Yuegai Town, Qumalai County of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, in an effort to help children of poor herders in the Tibetan-inhabited area.

The primary school has 442 students, including more than 100 children from poor herding families, mostly aged between 8 and 10. Due to the area’s high altitude and cold weather, the children need to wear cotton-padded jackets most of the year.

In February, upon learning about the situation of the more than 400 students from the primary school in Yuegai Town, leaders of the coal mine decided to join hands with the Jungar Volunteer Association to provide one-on-one assistance for children from local herding families. The coal mine organized its employees to donate winter school uniforms to those children. Subsequently, it issued a proposal to provide kind help to poor students living in the areas more than 4,500 meters above sea level, which immediately received enthusiastic response from more than 1,000 employees. So far, employees of the coal mine have donated winter clothes and school supplies worth 93,050 yuan to students in Tibetan-inhabited areas.

After the donations arrived at the school, the Tibetan children cheered on the school’s playground and expressed their gratitude to donors. They said that they would study hard, repay society with excellent school performance, and give back to kind-hearted people who donated school uniforms and supplies to them.
