The Huanghua Office of China Energy Coal Sales Co., Ltd. lately launched an activity themed “Caring for Heroes,” organizing volunteers to visit veterans and elderly relatives of martyrs living in the Veterans Home of Haixing County, in an effort to implement the Lei Feng Spirit and carry forward the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting the elderly.
The elderly people chatted with the volunteers while holding their hands, with their happy laughter reverberating in the courtyard. “Thank you for always caring for us,” they told the volunteers. With the donated money, the volunteers bought fresh fruits, cakes and milk for the veterans and asked them about their lives and their health conditions. They also presented paper-cuts they made to wish the elderly people good health. As the volunteers left, the elderly people waved goodbye to them outside the gate of the Veterans Home.
The Huanghua Office has long been committed to promoting the trend of venerating, learning from and caring for heroes and taking good care of elderly people in the Veterans Home of Haixing County. It has donated supplies like winter clothes and quilts to the Veterans Home many times, and volunteers from the office treat the elderly people there like their own families.
