Recently, young volunteers from Shengli Energy Shared Service Center went to Yili Letegacha Village in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, to publicize knowledge on grassland fire prevention and disaster reduction. The activity helped enhance the herdsmen’s fire safety awareness and create a sound atmosphere for grassland fire prevention work.

Yili Letegacha is a pastoral village where the grassland is sparsely populated and herdsmen live separately. The vegetation grows luxuriantly, presenting certain risks of grassland fires. In this context, the young volunteers organized this activity to publicize knowledge about grassland fire prevention and disaster reduction among local residents. They made door-to-door visits to explain grassland fire prevention measures, the characteristics of spring fires, proper use of electrical household appliances, and fire escape and self-rescue methods in easy-to-understand language. They also patiently answered the questions raised by the herdsmen, truly bringing grassland fire protection knowledge to their homes. They distributed more than 400 fire prevention leaflets and offered fire prevention consulting services for more than 20 herders.

The herders said that such activities were very meaningful, through which they learned a lot on fire safety and further realized the importance of grassland fire prevention. They declared that in the future, they would definitely pay greater attention to fire prevention to defend the grassland.
