The first batch of naturally-ripe cucumbers and marrow squash freshly harvested in Xinshuo Railway’s ecological plantation was delivered to the dining tables at the company’s cafeterias.
Since the beginning of this year, the company has been endeavoring to build an ecological plantation that produces “pollution-free” and organic vegetables and fruits in the Miaojiatan poverty alleviation relocation industrial park in Dalu New District, Jungar Banner, Inner Mongolia, in a bid to improve its employees’ sense of happiness, satisfaction and security.
Xinshuo Railway has rented a total of 20 greenhouses and some patches of open fields in the Miaojiatan poverty alleviation relocation industrial park for building the ecological plantation. With an optimized planting mode and reasonable crop rotations, a continuous and reliable supply of more than 20 kinds of vegetables and fruits is supplied for 25 cafeterias along the railway line in all seasons. The vegetables and fruits are planted by the natural course, manured with farmhouse and biological bacterial fertilizers, and transported by refrigerated trucks to the kitchen within 24 hours.
The vegetable prices from the plantation are generally 70 percent lower compared with the market price, so the food cost of employees can be effectively controlled. Besides, the enhanced quality of vegetables ensures that employees can dine with assurance and comfort and truly feel “happiness” in a bite.
