On December 9, the first grid connection of the No. 4 Unit in the Phase II expansion project at Guangxi Beihai Power Plant was successfully achieved in a single attempt. All systems of the unit operated stably with excellent key parameter indicators, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent 168-hour trial operation. This provided strong support for advancing the completion of the 14th Five-year Plan objectives.

The Phase II expansion project of Guangxi Beihai Company is a key initiative under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s energy development 14th Five-year Plan. It plans to construct two 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical single reheat coal-fired units. No. 3 Unit was successfully put into operation and began generating power on November 29. Aligned with the needs of building a new power system and guided by the design principles of “high efficiency, cleanliness, low carbon, and intelligence”, the project aims to construct coal-fired units with the optimal coal consumption and strongest peak-shaving capability among similar units in the region. The goal is to create a benchmark project renowned for its positive social image, excellent economic benefits, precise market positioning, and technological leadership.

To ensure the successful grid connection in one attempt, Beihai Company systematically summarized the commissioning and operational experience of No. 3 Unit. It coordinated all participating units comprehensively and strictly implemented standardized commissioning procedures. Adhering to the principle of “resolving issues daily and closing tasks daily”, the company meticulously deployed all preparatory work before grid connection and efficiently overcame technical and coordination challenges during the commissioning phase. Through strengthening the integrated control over quality, safety, and schedule, the company strictly implemented pre-startup quality supervision inspections and grid-connection condition verifications. It also completed key tests such as generator-transformer group short-circuit, no-load, excitation regulation characteristics, and simulated synchronization in advance, creating favorable conditions for the smooth implementation of the grid connection.

Upon completion and operation, the Phase II project will supply approximately 10 billion kilowatt-hours of clean and efficient electricity annually. This will provide robust support for Guangxi’s development and offer a solid energy guarantee for the high-level joint construction of the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor.
