On September 19, exciting news came from the Power Committee of the Chinese Workers’ Technical Association that Hebei Dingzhou Power Plant’s project, Reducing the Failure Rate of Desuperheating and Pressure Reducing Valve Positioners in the Bypass System, stood out among 264 projects displayed at the QC Team Achievements Exhibition held in Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and was honored with the 2024 Grand Award for Achievement of QC Team.
The plant attached great importance to the presentation of QC team achievements and formed a dedicated leadership team to oversee the planning and coordination of QC team activities and the results presentation. The team organized and guided every step from activity planning and topic selection to the final presentation, ensuring high-quality execution throughout the process. One of the key projects led by the plant’s “Healing” QC team, focused on Reducing the Failure Rate of Desuperheating and Pressure Reducing Valve Positioners in the Bypass System. The team tackled this specific problem by applying scientific QC methods and refining progress according to the PDCA cycle. They analyzed the limitations in the valve positioner’s internal structure from five aspects including personnel, machine, feeding, method and cycle as well as the high operating temperature environment. Based on these causes, they developed targeted solutions regarding large-flow FT positioners implementation and pneumatic components and sealing points reduction. These measures decreased failure occurrences and improved the reliability and stability of the bypass system, ensuring uninterrupted production.
