As of March 9, the 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains of Shuohuang Railway Co., Ltd. under China Energy had maintained safe operation for seven straight years. The trains had made a total of 87,455 trips and transported 976 million tonnes of coal, providing a solid transport foundation for safe, stable supply of energy.

Over the past seven years, following international advanced standards, Shuohuang Railway has been focusing on promoting innovation in heavy-haul transport management, heavy-haul equipment operation and application, and heavy-haul transport personnel training. While ensuring safe operation of its 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains, the company is also committed to exploring and developing a relatively mature system for safe operation of 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains. Besides, it has formulated the Standard for 20,000-tonne Mechanical Safety Management System and the Development Plan for 20,000-tonne Train Safety Control and Standardization to guide the safe operation of 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains in a scientific, systematical and standardized way. The company has also continuously improved the quality of train operation. It has optimized the operation methods of 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains more than 40 times, formulated and improved six versions of train operation tip cards, and solved 20 problems related to train operation. So far, it has successfully controlled the average load-carrying capacity of the couplers of 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains running in the long downhill section within 1,000kN. The company has also realized “train repair and maintenance based on quantitative indicators and data”. This enables it to achieve 100% information coverage of the brake system’s valve parts detection, maintenance and testing, increase maintenance efficiency by more than 40%, and reduce equipment failure-incurring delays by 51.76%, thus effectively improving the quality and safety level of locomotives.
