On August 21, the “Guoneng” KM81(A) aluminum alloy coal hopper wagon completed its trial run at the Diandaigou Station on the Xinshuo Railway’s Dazhun line, marking a breakthrough in Xinshuo Railway’s green and low-carbon transportation efforts and providing excellent transportation capacity for the west-to-east coal transportation corridor.
The KM81(A) aluminum alloy coal hopper wagon is a next-generation, advanced technology-integrated smart vehicle developed with mature domestic railway freight car technologies. Featuring low tare weight, high rigidity, large capacity, and low wind resistance, it integrates the Beidou Positioning System, wireless electronically controlled pneumatic braking system, and a dustproof and eco-friendly movable top cover made of composite material. With a world-leading tare weight coefficient, the wagon enhances brake wave speed, reduces train longitudinal impulse, and significantly decreases braking distance, thereby facilitating safe, green, and efficient energy transportation. To ensure the success of trial run of the unloaded wagon, the Diandaigou Station organized training for the inspection personnel on the technical specifications of the new model, developed a “Four New” checklist, identified management targets, conducted hazard identification, improved operational processes and procedures, and developed effective safety control measures. Detailed preparations were made for shunting operations, car number registration, cargo inspections, track maintenance, and train receiving and dispatching. Moreover, professional technicians were dispatched to CRRC Zhuzhou Vehicle Co., Ltd. for on-site inspections, information collection, and feedback analysis to guarantee the smooth progress of the trial run.
This wagon is compatible with the existing line conditions and current transportation organization mode of CHN Energy, and in line with the development needs of new-generation railway freight cars in terms of informatization, automation, intelligence, and eco-technology. It largely resolves problems including unorganized emissions during train operations and frozen coal in winter, alleviates the dust nuisance faced by residents along the railway, and saves the substantial costs associated with using traditional dust control spray agents, thus playing a crucial role in advancing the green and low-carbon transformation of railway transportation.
