Recently, Shuohuang Railway Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Energy, successfully completed the first autonomous driving test of 20,000-tonne freight train, marking a major breakthrough in China’s autonomous heavy-haul train driving technology.
The test was the first of its kind within China Energy. The 20,000-tonne freight train used in the test features a “1+1” marshaling mode, with 216 carriages extending 2.7 kilometers and weighing 21,600 tonnes in total. The train was controlled with automated driving technology in the entire process. During the test, the train could operate in a safe, stable and punctual manner according to the preset control strategy and achieve zero human control and intervention. Relevant technologies were proven workable in guaranteeing safe, reliable and intelligent driving of trains.
