Recently, the belt turning technology was firstly used by Shengli Energy in coal transferring belt conveyor system in cold region. After the actual application in the winter season, the result indicated that the non-normal stops in belt conveyor system was reduced by 6%, and the operation efficiency was improved by 5%, thus successfully solving the pain of coal falling along the belt conveyor.
In Shengli Energy, the lowest temperature could reach minus 40 degree in winter. In such extremely cold temperature, the fine coal could easily sticks to the belt conveyor due to the fact of high water content in coal, and the scrubber could not effectively remove the sticky coal on the belt. The coal fell along the belt conveyor when the returned belt contacted the returned rollers.
To solve the problem, a belt turning technology was used, namely when the belt approaches the turning part of the head and tail of belt conveyor, the roller will make three consecutive turns each with the angle of 45 degrees, 90 degrees and 135 degrees to realize the complete swap of loading belt with non-loading belt. By doing this, the loaded roller of belt conveyor and contacted part of belt will be all non-loading, ensuring that the loaded rollers are constantly running clean. The pains of coal spreading, sticky belt and flying coal, with potential safety and environmental protection concerns, are well addressed.
Ever since the application of the belt turning technology, more than 1300 tonnes of coal was saved from falling along the belt conveyor, and RMB1.49 million cleaning expenses was saved as a result. Significant environmental and social benefits were realized, thus paving the way to realize zero pollution.
