As of 6:00p.m. on September 6, 2022, 10,188 “2+0” 10,000-ton trains with SHEN-12 Locomotive, ran through Baotou-Shenmu Railway under the management of Baoshen Railway Group, cumulatively transporting about 88 million tons of coal in total.
Up to now, SHEN-12 Electric Locomotive is one of the AC drive electric locomotives with large traction power worldwide. It boasts many merits, such as easy to control, reliable operation, energy conservation and environment friendly. Since SHEN-12 Electric Locomotive was put into operation along Shenmu-Shuozhou Railway Line in October 2020, Baoshen Railway Group has successively solved a series of technical problems, such as cycling start on long and big gradients, stable maneuver on curved and undulating gradients, reinforcement for weak train tail signals, fatigue detection and prevention of locomotive couplers and draft gears, all of which paves the way for the launch of “2+0” 10,000-ton trains. On the basis of trail operation in the past two years, an efficient, safe and scientific mode for “2+0” 10,000-ton trains with SHEN-12 Locomotive, was gradually formulated.
The mature application of this mode sharply alleviates the pressure of train marshalling and unmarshalling at departure and arrival stations, effectively improves locomotive utilization efficiency and freight turnover efficiency, and provides strong mechanical support for the sufficient coal transportation during peak summer period and energy supply guarantee period.
