A ceremony for the signing of agreements on 2021 major industrial projects in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was recently held in Beijing. The Yili Modern Smart Health Valley zero-carbon five-star demonstration project was officially initiated in Hohhot. The project will be jointly built by China Shenhua, the municipal government of Hohhot, Yili Group, China Longyuan Power Group and Beijing Mingheng Industry Investment Limited Company.
Focusing on building a carbon-free Yili Modern Smart Health Valley, the project aims to coordinate development of a zero-carbon industrial park, a base for new-energy equipment and a base for new energy industry to create China’s first five-star zero-carbon demonstration zone. These efforts will be driven by integrated energy supply and accompanied by the building of related industrial bases and platforms.
The five parties jointly carrying out the project will make the demonstration zone a pilot and eventually expand it to 120 square kilometers covering the entire planned area of the Health Valley. The ultimate goal is an alternative new-energy project with an installed capacity of 1.58GW. Together with measures of hydrogen production, energy storage and carbon trading in the electricity sector, the project will realize the building and upgrading of power generating facilities and grids, cold source facilities and networks, thermal source facilities and networks, water source facilities and networks, gas source facilities and networks, and data source facilities and networks, finishing the creation and building of China’s first five-star zero-carbon demonstration zone. The pilot program will be expanded across Hohhot to build a group of zero-carbon industrial parks.
On such a basis, projects in the pipeline include carbon-neutral industrial fund, platform for operation and management of smart energy sector, platform for the trade of low-carbon technologies, industrial cluster of new-energy equipment manufacturing, base for integration of wind power, solar power, power storage and hydrogen energy, and a headquarter base of China Energy in Hohhot. Coordinated development of the zero-carbon industrial park, new-energy equipment industrial base and new energy base will be advanced.
