Recently, the Daliuta coal mine of Shendong Coal became one of the 21 winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award for Green Mining at the 6th National Green Mining Development Conference. Approved by the National Awards Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the award is granted to institutions and individuals who have made remarkable contributions to green mining and has become one of the most influential awards in China’s mining sector. Winning the award marked a full recognition of the outstanding contribution made by the Daliuta coal mine in green mining development, creating a “golden name card” for the coal mine in green mining construction.
In 2022, the Daliuta coal mine focused on key tasks of environmental protection while continuously improving the level of ecological governance. It took solid steps to advance construction of environmental protection infrastructure, and completed projects such as cleaning of pressed sludge from mine water treatment plants and reducing noise of belt trestle bridges. At the same time, it actively carried out the recycling and utilization of coal gangue resources, and implemented 27 ecological projects such as forest and grassland protection and restoration projects, primary forest protection and low-efficacy forest transformation projects, sea buckthorn industrialization management and protection projects, and water-saving ecological irrigation projects within the mining areas. It implemented the policy of “adapting measures to local conditions and planting suitable trees in suitable places” for ecological restoration. The coal mine carried out more than 10 ecological and environmental risk investigation and treatment activities, with a rectification rate of 100%, effectively preventing and resolving potential ecological and environmental risks. It continued to promote ecological restoration and completed the greening of nearly 4 million square meters of coal mining subsidence areas as well as soil coverage of 300,000 square meters of drainage sites. Also, it sowed flower seeds in 197,000 square meters of land and planted more than 5,000 trees in mine subsidence areas, guaranteeing the ecological security of the coal mine to the greatest extent.
