The “drag head location indicating device for drag-suction dredger” invented by Shanghang Dredging Company of Huanghua Port obtained utility model patent authorization from China National Intellectual Property Administration on April 6. The application of the patent will avoid losing drag heads when they fall off and sink in the water. It will shorten the fault time of dredgers and improve the efficiency of ship operation.
When dredging a harbor, a self-propelling drag-suction dredger often loses its drag head. It would take a long time and huge amounts of manpower and materials to salvage the drag head, delaying the dredging operation and undermining the efficiency. To solve the problem, technicians made scientific observation and stimulation experiments on the falling process, finding the pattern of the drag head’s falling trajectory. They then invented the drag head location indicating device, which is capable of accurately marking the location when the falling takes place, making it easier to locate the drag head by shortening the search and salvage time and substantially increasing the dredging efficiency. The patented technology has been used in dredgers in Huanghua Port, safeguarding navigation safety in the port.
